Cost Analyst/Cost Accountant

Based in Bakersfield CA, the Manufacturing Cost Analyst/Accountant reports directly to the President providing financial support to the manufacturing facility by providing cost budgeting, accurate and maintainable cost tracking, accurate and reliable inventory control and gap analysis to schedule and fulfill key performance indicators (KPI’s) with focus on continuous improvement.

Duties

  • Monitors and tracks productivity rates (KPI)
  • Develops labor projections, working closely with the director
  • Identifies labor variances and analyzes causes
  • Provides productivity information to Estimating
  • Identifies critical operations and develops methods to track and improve productivity rates
  • Develops and maintains productivity constraint checklists and monitors progress
  • Utilizes labor management software applications to create productivity data
  • Coordinates weekly scheduled meetings with front line supervisors
  • Creates plant production schedules (Overall, medium term, SIS)
  • Updates schedules based on information provided from productivity tracking and site supervision
  • Performs cost-benefit analyses and recommends process improvements to improve costs
  • Performs cost-benefit analyses and recommends capital improvements that improve costs
  • Provides monthly Work-In-Progress analysis
  • Analyzes the effects of changes in materials, methods, or equipment
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Two (2) years similar work experience in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Construction Industry experience is preferred
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, energetic and independent manager
  • Possess high integrity and moral standards
  • Be highly analytical with cost-efficiency at the forefront
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting and cost accounting principles and a thorough understanding of GAAP
  • Superior negotiations skill to obtain most advantageous terms
  • Ability to read the market
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with strong Excel skills
  • Objectively demonstrate common sense and sound judgment
  • Strong leadership capability
  • Excellent decision making skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills
  • Maintain a strong sense of urgency to maintain outstanding department performance

General Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outside in different types of weather to include wet conditions such as ice, rain, sleet, heat, and direct sun exposure.
