Diesel mechanic/service-truck driver is primarily responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the diesel fleet for logistics and the agricultural spreading equipment for Ag. It is the diesel mechanics responsibility to fix any equipment that breaks down on the road or in the field in company assigned service truck. The mechanic will be supervised by the shop supervisor.
The diesel mechanic/service-truck driver will be responsible for the repairs and maintenance on the fleet of diesel trucks in our logistics fleet as well as the ag spreading equipment. He/she will be on-call with the service truck when they are not in the shop. He/she may also be required to assist in the repairs and adjustments of hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and load packers on dump trucks or any other mine equipment. He/She inspects repairs and adjusts diesel power units, hydraulic systems, injection valves and systems, mold boards and scarifies on graders. He/She must also inspect, adjust and repair gasoline power units. He/She will be responsible for installs, replacements or adjustments to filters, belt or similar object to maintain equipment.
The diesel mechanic/service-truck driver must have the ability to diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment. They also need to be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions in the English language, and complete forms to record or report information in standard format as specified by the form. He/She is expected to be efficient when it comes to reading, understanding and applying information from charts, graphs and manuals.
