Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant maintains the General Ledger, performs research and analyzes accounts, prepares journal entries, performs financial analysis, internal, and external reporting, and assists in providing accounting documentation. Duties require initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting transactions and issues. Critical thinking skills, financial aptitude, and precision are essential qualities in this position.

Essential Functions/Duties


  • Prepare and process the daily accounting activities to maintain the General Ledger
  • Analyze and prepare account activities for preparation of reconciliations
  • Prepare, document and process monthly journal entries
  • Perform accounting functions consistent with normal month-end close responsibilities in a timely manner
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommends changes
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual government filings, as necessary
  • Assist in research, analysis, and documentation needed for audits, including tax audits, retirement plan(s) (if any), and customer contract compliance audits
  • Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting.
  • Partner with key internal customers to ensure accurate and meaningful reporting, analysis, and problem resolution
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Prepare daily cash reconciliation and short term forecasts
  • Assist in special projects, as necessary


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Two (2) to Three (3) years’ work experience performing similar accounting duties
  • Must pass a background investigation and substance abuse screening upon conditional offer acceptance
  • Ethical, credible, punctual, and fulfill obligations as promised
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; must establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Must be able to professionally, authoritatively communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to internal and external contacts and employees
  • Must be an analytic, independent, organized self-starter and be dependable, reliable, and available as needed
  • Must possesses prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of all Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to manipulate large sets of data, analyze and prepare concise reports
