This position manages the complete design process and schedules for each design project. Responsible for the conversion of architect designs, engineer plans, rough sketches, and technical drawings to create, modify, and develop detailed technical construction drawings using engineering, drafting, and building techniques specifying dimensions, material, and procedures that will pass the inspection of Division of State Architect (DSA) or Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD).
- Operate CADD programs (AutoCAD and Revit) to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms and records. - Draw plans for foundations, buildings and structures, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets, California Building Code (CBC), contract, proposals, and other data. - Coordinate structural, electrical and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation in order to graphically represent building plans. - Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs. - Communicates with Design Manager, Estimator, Project Managers, and affiliate architects, and engineers throughout the process of creating, revising, and completion of drawings and cut sheets for construction projects. - Print, prepare, and organize physical paper drawings as needed. - Administer design revisions throughout the production process responding to Requests for Information (RFI’s), providing quick and accurate answers. - May be tasked with freehand drawing and lettering, if/when necessary - Required to maintain all drawing and documentation libraries using various information sharing system platforms (such as shared local hard drives and clouds), periodically adjusts information as appropriate. - May travel to DSA plan review meetings.
- Associate of Science Degree in Industrial Drawing with One (1) year experience OR - Three (3) years of substantially similar work experience in lieu of the aforementioned degree - Superior knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting Design (CADD) systems, specifically AutoCAD and Revit - Ability to work independently and within design team - Ability to succinctly communicate cross-functionally with internal and external contacts - Superior analysis and problem solving skills - Must be detail-focused, accurate - Exceptional record keeping abilities.
