Vice President of Safety

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Oversight of the staff regarding the following management and activities in the safety department
  • Responsible for all DOT, Customer and CHP compliance and audits
  • Continuous Improvement including introduction of new technology as it relates to safety practices and programs
  • Oversight of all Accident Investigations, Loss Investigations, Root Cause Analysis, and Safety Observations

    - Responds to accidents/incidents including coordinating spill clean-up if applicable

    - Review and Investigate all DriveCam Events

    - Counsel and Discipline for all Safety related infractions

    - Manage the screening driver candidates with regards to compliance, regulations and company procedures

    - Schedule and coordinate safety training and orientation for current and new hire employees

    - Manage Insurance Claims and Collections

    - Maintain Driver Safe Miles Program

    - Manage Journey Plans

    - Manage employee company and customer mandated training and certifications

    - Work closely and effectively with supervisors and managers to ensure employee compliance with   company and HSE Policies and Procedures

    - Manage Driver Scorecard Program

    - Prepare monthly KPI and financial reporting

    - Manage Driver Recognition Programs and events

                 -Contract Review and Compliance (Insurance Certs, policies, certifications) 

Skills and Experience (preferred): 

  • Minimum of 7 years prior managerial experience in safety/compliance
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in transportation industry
  • Experience and knowledge of transportation specific regulations of the FMCSA and US DOT
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and reporting
  • Highest level of employee management
  • Effective communication and analytical skills, both oral and written including high degree of skill in grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Must have ability to be fair, firm, and comfortable with enforcing policies and regulation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Work and PowerPoint
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong ability to multi task and remain organized and efficient
  • Flexible work schedule and travel required
